Meet CenterPoint’s Bryan Loney...

 

Personal History/Connection to Tallahassee. I was born in New York but spent the majority of my childhood growing up just outside of Dallas, Texas. I moved to Tallahassee in 2000.

Favorite Restaurant. Carrabba’s

Favorite Spots. Tallahassee has an incredible network of parks and trails. I have enjoyed the recreation opportunities here, particularly the jogging trails near my home.

Spare time. My wife, Lisa, and I spend most of our spare time playing with and enjoying our 21 month old daughter, Mya Nicole. We also enjoy welcoming others into our home, sharing a meal, and watching movies.  

Hobbies. Jogging, reading, and listening to music.

Occupation. I have my doctorate in clinical psychology and have been working as an academic psychologist since receiving my degree in 2000. I recently obtained tenure in FSU’s department of psychology and have teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. My greatest challenge is to balance my varied responsibilities while prioritizing student contact and mentoring.

CenterPoint. I have been a member of CenterPoint for over 4 years. My wife and I joined the initial church plant effort, and we have been excited to watch the Lord grow our congregation and use it to meet the needs of the surrounding community. In terms of leadership roles, I have enjoyed serving as a college ministry leader with regular teaching responsibilities during the Sunday night worship gathering. I have also enjoyed serving as a community group leader and am humbled to serve as a ruling elder.

 

RANDOM QUESTIONS  

What is your favorite sports team and why? I am unashamedly a tennis fan. Despite the peer rejection that is likely to ensue in a college football town, I will state boldly that my favorite “sports team” is Andy Roddick and Roger Federer. You don’t know sports until you have seen these athletes battle it out on a grand slam stage.

What are your favorite memories from Tallahassee? My first date with Lisa and the birth of my baby girl.
