Question 1: What do you believe?
The mission of CenterPoint Church is to live as authentic Christ Followers, serving Florida's Capital City in word and deed, as He commands.
The sole basis of our belief is the Bible, which is uniquely God-inspired, without error, and the final authority on all matters on which it bears. As the Bible teaches, there is one God, eternally existing in three persons Father, Son, and Holy Spirit each possessing all the attributes of Deity.
God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but they defied God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God's saving grace to end our alienation from Him. Salvation comes only through God's saving grace not human effort and must be received personally by repentance and faith.
Jesus Christ, second Person of the Trinity, lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute, and as He took our sins at the cross he simultaneously credited his holiness to each believer. This accomplishes salvation for all who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the dead and is the only mediator between us and God. He will return to earth to consummate history.
The Holy Spirit draws sinners to Christ and equips believers for personal growth and service to the church. The church's role is to glorify God and serve those in need. At the end, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and the judgment. Those forgiven through Christ will enjoy eternal fellowship with God.
Question 2: Are you part of a Denomination?
We are part of the Presbyterian Church in America. We are affiliated with the PCA because of its commitment to the authority of Scripture, its roots in the theology of the Reformation, and because as a denomination it provides both theological and moral accountability for its leaders.
The root word of "Presbyterian" is "presbyter" or "elder." The chief distinction of our denomination is that our local church is governed by elders, and these elders are held accountable by a regional group of elders connected as a "Presbytery." Our Presbytery is connected to the other PCA Presbyteries around the country through our General Assembly.
Question 3: Why do you have church membership?
Church membership is linked to our form of government, because the congregation nominates and elects our elders. We believe that only those who are committed to the vision and purpose of our church can and should determine its leaders. Thus, once a person commits to being a member, they are then entitled to participate in congregational meetings.
Question 4: Why don't you receive offerings during church?
CenterPoint Church doesn't take up an offering during the worship service. This isn't because we think it is "wrong" to do so, but instead because we believe that giving is a matter of the heart and shouldn't be done under compulsion.
The giving of tithes and offerings is an act of worship, and commanded in Scripture. If you consider CenterPoint your church home, you can place your offering in the offering box in the lobby after church. Our finance team of accountants will process your gifts and receipt you at year's end.
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
